Water, Water everywhere and NO OIL

Did you know the best fishing, diving and snorkeling in the Keys is now? June, July and August are some of the best months for water activities. The water is warm, clear and abundant with sea life.

Fishing is also very popular during these months. There are several fishing tournaments with big prize money going on at this time. I don’t know too many women into deepsea fishing, but I just spoke to a couple of guests the other day who booked a fishing excursion out near the Dry Tortugas. They will be back today, and I hope to get some photos and tales of their experience. The weather has been hot, but very nice with only an isolated shower here and there.

One of our favorite trips to book for our guests is Venus Charters (see the link to the right). Capt. Karen has been taking women out on the water for years. The best thing about her trips are the stories the guests come back to tell us!

With the discouraging news about the Transocean/BP oil spill catastrophe, I suppose it is easy to assume that a Florida vacation may not be a smart idea. Who wants to go to an oil-stained beach?

Well, as discouraging as the news is, we want everyone to know that this tragedy has not affected the Keys waters. In fact, all the tour operations; jet skis, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking are all still in operation.

The past Memorial Day Weekend was one of the most beautiful. Warm temperatures, light breezes. Perfect boating weather.  Here is a link to a video put together this past weekend to illustrate that our waters are clear.
