When its time to go on vacation, lesbians and gays need to be careful to choose a vacation destination that allows them to be themselves. After all, everyone wants to go on a holiday where you can just be yourself. Thankfully, more and more places are opening their arms to welcome the gay and lesbian community. In America there are several cities that are lesbian friendly. These cities are fun and beautiful to visit as well as gay and lesbian friendly.  They have a lot of lesbian run restaurants and gay and lesbian bars.

 

New York City is a top destination on the list of lesbian vacation spots. It is the birthplace of modern gay and lesbian rights in the United States and has something to offer to every individual. The city has several lesbian bed and breakfast inns and lesbian-run restaurants. The best time to visit the city is in June for the gay parade. It hosts one of the world's biggest gay parades.

 

Another favorite vacation destination of the lesbian community is Provincetown. Provincetown, which is the biggest city in America, has beautiful beaches and guest houses, several lesbian-owned restaurants and night clubs with the best in gay and lesbian entertainment. A great time to visit this city is during Women's Week in October.

 

San Francisco much like New York is a mecca of gay and lesbian rights. Like many other gay and lesbian friendly cities, this city has several gay and lesbian run restaurants. The lesbian scene in castro is very active. Individuals interested in gay and lesbian history will probably pay a visit to  San Francisco's City Hall where for weeks gays and lesbians lined up to get married in 2004.

 

Another top vacation destination for the lesbian community is Key West in Florida. Its warm beaches, beautiful coral reefs and diverse gay and lesbian community are great attractions to the lesbian community. Several of the beaches are gay and lesbian beaches.

 

Lesbians love to vacation in Las Vegas. The city offers lot of excitement and entertainment with its shows and casinos.  Palm Springs is another lesbian friendly vacation destination where gays and lesbians can spend time swimming and playing golf. It has many lesbian friendly night clubs. The best time to visit Palm Springs is probably during the Dinah Shore golf tournament, which is said to be the world's largest annual gathering of lesbians.

 

Portland boasts the largest independent bookstore in the nation, a women's bookstore, and is great for hikes. Seattle and Dallas are two other cities which are very popular vacation destinations among the lesbian community. Both these cities have an active lesbian and gay community.
